Glass Ball Press Release party hosted by
Mayor Sam Adams
Special thanks to Mayor Sam AdamsÍ office for hosting the press release party for the First Annual Glass Ball to be held on November 14th. Prior to this exciting fund raising event to support arts education and job training for Portland youth, several of the orbs will be displayed at City Hall preceding the event so please feel free to stop by and check them out.
From the press release:
It can be as simple as learning a guitar chord, earning the first paycheck, or a connection with a great teacher - the folks who run Portland Youth Development Coalition (PYDC) know there are countless ways to help Portland's youth thrive.
That's why the organizations that form PYDC have come together to collaborate on the PYDC Glass Ball Gala, a fundraising event that promises to lift hundreds of Portland's youth into new opportunities that build confidence, job skills and grow their creativity.
Portland Youth Development Coalition is the collaborative effort of Artful Education, Artist Mentorship Program (AMP), and Urban Opportunities (UO) to "Put Portland's Youth First".
Check us out!
Our fundraising endeavor kicks off on the September 22nd at 11am at the City Hall Atrium!
15 local artists have each created a one of a kind piece of art - each on a glass orb, 14î in diameter, blown by Portland artists Andy Pyko.
Each orb will be displayed throughout the months of September and October locally and auctioned off in November at the Glass Ball Gala. We will have all orbs on display at City Hall and we'll be joined by many of the collaborating artists, youth and members of the PYDC.
The Event:
